The Scooters

Can someone teach me how to ride?  Yes! Well.. as long as you have some sort of hand-eye coordination, and can at least ride a bicycle, we can.   Once you have filled out your paper work, been shown the map, and have been fitted for eyewear or helmets if needed, we then take you into the lot and give you a full on orientation of the scooters from trunk to headlights.  Once you have taken a spin around the lot so we can evaluate your turning abilities, we then send you down Lake Front St. which is a side street next to ZootScoot.  This road ends down at the lake, where there is a large turn-around area.  One stop sign between the shop and the lake.  This gives you an idea of how the scooter acts down hill, as well as up hill, AND this is your test drive. When you return to the shop, you will be asked if you are comfortable with your ride.  If not, no worries... we'll destroy the contracts as well as the damage deposit carbon paper, and you are off the hook.  No charge.  If you are ready for take off, and given the thumbs up, your time is starts and you are good to go!!

Can I rent a scooter overnight, or for a week? In most cases, yes!   Overnight rentals are generally easy to accomodate.  Unfortunately our fleet isn't big enough to let scooters go out for days at a time at discounted rates all summer.  But, we can during slower parts of the season.  Typically in May, before Memorial Day Weekend, we can cut you a deal, as well as the last 2 weeks of August, and finally anytime after Labor Day Weekend.  Please call, email, or see us in person for negotiating mulitiple day rentals.

Can my kids ride with me? Sorry, the Metropolitans carry one person at a time. Considering the high amount of traffic and other obstacles/distractions, it is best for the safety of all that your children are not permitted on the Metropolitans. The Big Ruckus can carry a passenger, and the passenger must be able to fit into an adult sized helmet and reach the foot pegs behind the driver. Children are NOT PERMITTED TO SIT UP FRONT OF THE DRIVER ON THE BIG RUCKUS.

What if it rains? This likely hood is pretty great. Between the hours of 1pm to 4pm there is generally some sort of rainfall. It usually lasts 5-30min so if it does start to rain, try to find shelter, wait it out, and continue on. Trying to hurry back to the shop on wet roads can be dangerous, and by the time you get back to the shop, the rain will probably have stopped. In the event that it will continue raining, please be very cautious on your way back to ZootScoot. Ugly clouds can appear, and never let loose with the rain, so don't let gloomy skies prevent you from going out for an adventure.

What if I run out of gas? This is highly unlikely as the Metros get 100mph(1.3 gallon tank), and the Ruckus get 80mpg (3 gallon tank). Most Metro riders, riding from 9am to 7pm can only put about 50-60 miles on the scooters. Ruckus average is 100-125 miles. IF you feel the need to refuel, the Metro will cost under $3.00 and the Ruckus under $7. Hang onto that receipt, and we will reimburse you at check-out.

When do the Deer turn into Elk? Deer wander up into the forest in early fall and spin cacoons in the trees. When they come out of the cacoons, they are elk. At this stage of their lifecycle, the Elk are known as "DROP ELK". Drop Elk are famished from the transformation from Deer to Elk, and are extremely aggressive at this point as well as carniverous.

When hiking in the forest, be sure to always look up! A Drop Elk will fall from a tree branch hitting you with all its weight. This usually renders the victim unconscious, and vulnerable to being devoured by the Drop Elk.

LOOK UP OR DIE!
